Availability
Wireless Broadband is available throughout most of Jefferson and Jennings Counties in Indiana and Trimble County in Kentucky. Our Wireless Broadband uses fixed wireless technology that carries data at high speeds over airwaves. Wireless Broadband Internet does not tie up your phone line, therefore you can be surfing the Net and talking on your phone at the same time! SEI has varying speeds to meet the needs and budget of your home or business.

Site Survey
There is a $50 Wireless Site Survey Fee to have a survey conducted at your location. If your site qualifies for the Wireless service and you order within 30-days of the site survey, the $50 fee will be waived. If your site does not quality for the Wireless service, the fee will also be waived. The only time the $50 fee will be assessed is if your business or residence is surveyed, qualifies and you do not sign-up for the service within 30-days. Please click on the site survey link to send your information to SEI. You will be contacted by a SEI Customer Service Representative to confirm the site survey. The technician conducting the survey will leave the results at your location when complete.

Who can get SEI’s Wireless High-Speed Internet?
Fixed Wireless technology does have some restrictions such as distance from the SEI Wireless Point-of-Presence and "line of sight" requirements.

What essentials are necessary for Wireless Broadband Internet?
You will need to have an Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) installed in your computer. SEI can sell and install this card onto your pc if you do not already have one. You will also need a Wireless subscriber unit, router and antenna, which will be provided by SEI. The Wireless subscriber unit, router and antenna will remain the property of SEI when the customer accepts SEI's installation of equipment terms and conditions agreement.

What is the minimum PC System Configuration?

  • Pentium 133 MHz or faster processor (or equivalent)

  • Windows 98, ME, NT 4 (w/ SP3 or higher), 2000 or XP

  • RAM: 64 MB

  • 50 MB free space

  • Ethernet Card (10baseT or better)

  • CD ROM Drive

  • Original Windows Media CD

What is the minimum Macintosh System Configuration?

  • PowerPC or faster processor

What equipment will SEI install at my location?
SEI will install a Wireless Subscriber Unit, Router and antenna at your location. The actual location of the mounted hardware will vary depending on your location. A Category 5 cable will be run from the antenna into the Wireless Subscriber Unit. This cable will connect to your Ethernet card in your computer or existing network hub. The antenna must be in a location that has visibility to the SEI Wireless Access Point. When you have a site survey done, the technician will discuss the installation options with you.

Will SEI send a technician to my house for installation?
Yes. After a successful site survey has been done and you subscribe to the service, SEI will schedule a time for a technician to install the wired modem and antenna.

Can I host Internet Services on my Wireless Connection?
SEI strictly prohibits the hosting of Internet service (e.g., web site, DNS, FTP, E-mail) via a wireless connection.
